# Vault

## Overview 

The vault is a smart contract that holds all tokens deposited in Symmetric v3 pools. The vault structure holds significant advantages over other traditional pool-centered logic. Namely, the vault uses its own logic to account for and manage tokens, which allows for all kinds of pool types to tap into the liquidity maintained by the vault. Importantly, pool balances are kept strictly independent as pools still maintain their own logic, maintaining the security of tokens in the vault from. The vault is an efficient, versatile, and secure vehicle for managing tokens.
